چکیده

We study the structure and dynamics of active region magnetic loops at transition region temperatures by analyzing high resolution observations of the active region NOAA 7962 at the limb on 1996 May 6. During the decay phase of a B-class are which occurred at the active region, the Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation (SUMER) spectrograph on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) produced one set of raster scan data of the active region, in the four lines, The data were used to construct the intensity, velocity, and line width maps of the active region. From these maps, more than ten well-resolved loops are identiied and classiied into four diierent groups. We determine physical parameters of the loops such as diameter, length, density, temperature, line-of-sight velocity, and nonthermal broadening. It turns out that there is a distinction between stationary loops and dynamic loops. Dynamic loops have large bulk motions and large nonthermal broadenings. Some of dynamic loops appear to be erupting, and display rotational motions around the loop axes. The rotational velocities reach up to 50 km s ?1 , which may imply the existence of magnetic twist with B ' 1G. We also get some results which support that nonthermal broadenings are the result of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence in loops. Based on our observations, we postulate that when loops erupt, some of rotational and magnetic twist energy cascade down to turbulent energy which would be dissipated as heat. Active Region Loops and Microoares Seen by Sumer

A high resolution spectrograph observation of an active region at the limb, which was performed by Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation (SUMER) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) on 1996 May 6, provides an unprecedented opportunity of studying the structures and dynamics of active region loops and microoares at transition region temperatures. The SUMER observa...

Footpoint excitation of standing acoustic waves in coronal loops

A new theoretical model for the study of slow standing sausage mode oscillations in hot (T > 6 MK) active region coronal loops is presented. These oscillations are observed by the SUMER spectrometer on board the SoHO satellite. The model contains the transition region and the upper chromosphere which enables us to study the entire process of hot loop oscillations – from the impulsive footpoint ...

Structure and dynamics of an active region loop system observed on the solar disc with SUMER on SOHO

In this paper we present and discuss spectra obtained by SUMER on SOHO from an active region loop system observed on the solar disc, close to the central meridian, on July 26th, 1996. The region was observed with a spatial resolution of about 2′′ by 2′′ in emission lines forming in the transition region and inner corona, with the aim of investigating the physical structure and dynamical behavio...

Small-scale flows in SUMER and TRACE high-cadence co-observations

Context. We report on the physical properties of small-scale transient flows observed simultaneously at high cadence with the SUMER spectrometer and the TRACE imager in the plage area of an active region. Aims. Our major objective is to provide a better understanding of the nature of transient phenomena in the solar atmosphere by using high-cadence imager and spectrometer co-observations at sim...
